Iraq Reconstruction - House Oversight Committee - 2003-10-08 - 178554-1-DVD - House Committee Government Reform and Oversight. Witnesses testified regarding efforts by the U.S.-led coalition to restore peace, freedom, security, and dignity to the people of Iraq. Most praised the accomplishments of the coalition to date, citing myriad improvements, and were optimistic about the future. However, some committee members and witnesses expressed concerns that a serious safety and security problem still existed in Iraq, and that the procedure used to award reconstruction contracts was not in the best interest of the American taxpayer.
